TWO TYPES OF MUSIC CINEMA

There is two types of music in cinema.

-Diegetical music: Sound whose source is visible on the screen or whose source is implied to be present by the action of the film
-Incidental music:is music in a play, televisionprogram, radio program, video game, film, or some other presentation form that is not primarily musical. The term is less frequently applied to film music, with such music being referred to instead as the "film score" or "soundtrack".

THE TRANSITION TO SOUND CINEMA

Warner Bros was the first studio to accept sound as an element in film production. The studio realeased The Jazz Singer in 1927, which marked the firist commercially successful sound film.

Silent films were still the majority of features realeased in both 1927 and 1928. But in the next years the sound cinema became majority. It was a Revolution. We have watched Singin the Rain to understand this revolution. It changed the film technique (microphones, sound and image syncrhonized, etc.).
